Duct Sealing & Insulation
Leaky ductwork not only wastes energy but also pulls unhealthy air containing mold, animal waste, formaldehyde, and more from the attic or basement into the home. Two cost effective ways to increase efficiency and enhance indoor air quality (IAQ) are through duct sealing and duct insulation for your home.
STP Home Performance approaches each of these improvements with our attention to detail and expert application, often starting with a home energy audit to pinpoint problem areas.
Achieve a Comfortable, Healthy Home
Throughout York County, Maine, and along the New Hampshire Seacoast, there are many options for duct sealing and duct insulation services. Our environmentally friendly approach maximizes the IAQ benefits that these two upgrades provide.
We often complete duct sealing and insulation with basement encapsulation to help you achieve the highest possible indoor air quality in your home.
Duct Sealing to Save Energy & Improve IAQ
Many homes in the Wells, York, and Portsmouth areas have air leaks which waste valuable energy and undermine home comfort. When your heating and cooling system ductwork has these air leaks, inside air leaks out while outside dust, allergens and viruses seep in and spread throughout your house.
By sealing your ductwork, the pros at STP Home Performance can reduce your energy bill by as much as 20%. These means that duct sealing often pays for itself in savings! Duct sealing also improves indoor air quality and keeps harmful indoor pollutants from being circulated around your home.
Plus, when paired with duct insulation, you’ll conserve even more energy and prevent issues like condensation buildup on the outside of ductwork.
How We Do It:
First, your STP duct sealing technician will review your heating and cooling system ductwork in the attic, basement, or crawl space as well as any bathroom fans. They’ll make sure all ducts are connected and that all vent pipes are routed properly to the outside. Then, they will seal each joint and connection, including bathroom fans, using an application of sealing tape or spray foam sealant to ensure an airtight connection. You’ll notice the benefits of this service immediately: less dust to clean, easier breathing, and more cozy rooms throughout your home.
Duct Insulation to Save Even More Energy
Having your ductwork insulated is another great way to save energy saving and can boost your family’s comfort. The insulation pros at STP Home Performance use two types of insulation based on their effectiveness and low environmental impact.
Spray Foam Insulation
This type of insulation delivers an effective heat barrier and air sealing, all in a single application. Our two-part closed cell spray foam, GacoOnePass, is certified for excellent insulation properties and is designated a low Global Warming Potential product. This translates into an effective spray foam insulation that produces very little fumes or off gassing. Not only is it safer for our insulation team, it's a great choice for your family!
Fiberglass Insulation
Fiberglass insulation is often a simple solution for insulating your well-sealed ductwork if spray foam is not an option. This insulating blanket simply wraps around the aluminum ducts to help deliver warm or cool air to its destination.
